Area Police
Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials say initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for details.
A senior political figure stated the incident made him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
